Archery: Tarundeep Rai advances into the last 16

Fantastic stuff!!! With Cuban Stevens leading by 2 sets, Tarundeep Rai performed to his best, and advanced into the last 16. Carrying a nation’s hope, he scored a 9 to beat his rival’s 7 in the shoot off (the bowl out of Cricket 😀 ). Losing two sets and equaling one, Rai fought back in the last two games by winning them and equaling the Cuban with 5 points each at the end of the show. The equal points took them to a one arrow shoot off in which Rai scored a competitive 9 to edge out Stevens.

Rai’s inital wry smile turned into hands in the air celebration at the end. Lets hope Rai overcomes his rivals in the forthcoming rounds and clinches a medal. May he be showered with Robin Hood’s blessings from the heavens 😉

(Interesting Fact: Archery has been South Korea’s golden goose since the 70’s fetching the country an unprecedented 16 golds, more than any other nation.)
