What’s making news??
It has been a very eventful week so far: in terms of the news around us. From Notion Ink Adam’s debut to Rafa losing to Ferrer in straight sets to the additional collector being burnt to death in Maharashtra to the 62nd Republic day celebrations.
I have never awaited a product review from Engadget so eagerly. That’s for Notion Ink’s ADAM tablet. Developed by an Indian firm, the product almost won the best product award at the CES 2011. But Motorola Xoom just took over the prize for it’s amazing features, most probably for Honeycomb. Adam by Notion Ink has all the hardware features to make it an iPad killer, but the initial reviews on the tweaked Android software EDEN has been disappointing. But there are a lot of kind hearts who are patiently waiting for the firmware upgrade and I also see a lot of support for the company and the CEO Roshan. He’s typically taking the firm, the Indian way, which is certainly likable with the best part being transparent about the company’s goals and it’s future plans. They have come a long way since the idea of developing a tablet came up in 2009, which I think is brave for an Indian firm – to compete with the likes of Apple and Samsung. It’s a very good ice breaker kinda thing for Indian entrepreneurs. I guess ADAM will survive among the biggies and make a market of his own.
Shocking pictures on all the News channels of a burnt alive additional collector. What the heck is happening in our country? A collector being burnt!!! What were the accused thinking of??? And now, there is a state wide protest by the government officials. I couldn’t believe the news for a long time. So dreadful it was.
62nd Republic Day celebrations went well with the chief guests from Indonesia. I hope they enjoyed. I watched it for an hour and it was good. There were a lot of Padma awards as well for distinguished men who made our country proud. No Bharat Ratna this time. Probably it should go to the ruling government. I wonder they’d even claim it stating that they truly deserve one. I’d rather put the exact state as simply as Azim Premji put it. “Sad”. Yes, every citizen is sad about the state of affairs.
There were a lot of other stuff as well. Rafa losing to David Ferrer in straight sets. I wished the news were false. He missed a golden chance to win all the 4 majors in a row. Paes and Bhupathi pair are into the finals of the Australian Open 2011, which is refreshing. But, one man caught my attention yesterday. Alexander Dolgopolov. He was unconventional and scratchy but a fine talented powerhouse of tennis. He was interesting cos he could be brilliant and awful at the same time. He is definitely some one to watch out for. Of course, Murray overcame him with some difficulty.
Personally, had a little fun on Wednesday as it was a holiday.
Signing off for now..
