Roger Federer “The Invincible”

Sadly, that’s not the truth anymore. It’s almost a year since he has lost that title. That doesn’t mean someone else had occupied the position. It’s just that there are more contenders for the trophies and other players have started believing that Federer is beatable. It took almost three to four years for other players to just get to that thought. It was so suffocating for others.

The Australian Open looks like it could be for any one of the top four seeds/rankers – Nadal, Federer, Murray and Djokovic. There are other promising players as well. Few of them are Monfils, Baghdatis, Tsonga among others. And Roddick is still a very good player.

Safin during his probably the last Australian Open match, would have thought of repeating the 2005 semifinal match. But that seemed impossible. Because Federer stormed to the 4 th round by beating Safin in straight sets. Watch out guys, Fedex could be back.

But, tennis is more interesting now. There are a lot of upsets and thrilling matches these days. The authorities should be happy now because this would draw a lot of crowd to other tournaments as well. When the tennis world thought that the Fedex was doing a Schumacher’s, there came a change in the form of Rafael Nadal. He showed others that Federer was no more “THE INVINCIBLE”.

I am a good fan of Federer and hence how ever good the other players are I want him to win this Grandslam and equal the record of Pete Sampras for the most grandslams by a male player. Let’s wait a few more days to see if it happens.

I also wanted to include my favourite tennis players in this post. These players might not be all time greats, but something in them makes them to my favs list. They are from the latest generation because I am not aware of the tennis history and not even an ardent follower of the game.

Marat Safin, Juan carlos Ferrero, Justin Henin and Roger Federer.
